NEW ULM, MN – June 13, 2017 – Nuvera’s President and CEO Bill Otis recently had the opportunity to visit with Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai and other rural broadband providers about how to reach more Minnesotans with high-speed Internet. Chairman Pai hosted a roundtable in Madelia, MN where the group discussed the challenges of expanding rural broadband.
Ajit Pai is the Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission. He was designated Chairman by President Donald J. Trump in January 2017. He had previously served as Commissioner at the FCC, appointed by then-President Barack Obama and confirmed unanimously by the United States Senate in May 2012. Mr. Pai understands that broadband is critical in modern American life and has proposed a comprehensive plan to promote broadband deployment to all Americans.
“I truly appreciated the opportunity to meet with Mr. Pai and be part of this discussion with other providers,” stated Mr. Otis. “Nuvera is continually looking for ways to provide higher Internet speeds to our current customers, as well as reach underserved areas.”
