Frequently Asked Questions

Learn more about the Affordable Connectivity program with our frequently asked questions!

What is the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP)?

The Affordable Connectivity Program is an FCC program that partners with internet providers to help provide households the broadband connection they need for work, school, healthcare, and more.

Can my household receive more than one ACP benefit?

The Affordable Connectivity Program only allows one monthly service discount and one device discount per household.

Is the Lifeline program and ACP the same?

The Federal Lifeline program began providing discounts for phone service in 1985 to qualifying low-income households, and has since expanded their discounts to broadband internet service. The ACP was established in 2022 for broadband only. If you qualify for Lifeline, you automatically qualify for the ACP.

Can you have ACP and Lifeline at the same time?

Yes, you can enroll in both programs. In fact, if you qualify for Lifeline, you automatically qualify for the ACP. You can apply both benefits to the same service provider or split benefits between multiple service providers.

Is the Affordable Connectivity Program permanent?

Yes, the ACP is the permanent replacement to the COVID relief program called Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB). Under the ACP, new qualifying circumstances have been included to ensure broadband coverage for even more households.
