Nuvera Gig Cities

Nuvera’s $200+ million Gig Cities Project is the largest fiber investment in the company’s history. Now in its fifth year, the initiative has reached 50,000 fiber passings, connecting more than 65% of Nuvera’s residential and business customers. With over 75% of construction complete, Nuvera is on pace to achieve 80% fiber coverage by 2027.

Minnesota Border-to-Border Broadband Development Grant Program

Nuvera partners with the State of Minnesota through the Minnesota Border-to-Border Broadband Development Grant Program to expand fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) infrastructure in rural and underserved areas. These projects are delivering symmetrical 1 Gbps service to homes, farms, and businesses, far exceeding the State’s 2026 broadband speed goal.

Acquired Peoples Telephone Company in Aurelia, IA.

1996

Became an Internet Service Provider (ISP).

2000

Introduced NU-Telecom.

2001

Began offering Digital TV.

2002

Began offering service in Redwood Falls.

2008

Opened TechTrends; acquired Hutchinson and Litchfield locations

2010

Acquired Cable Television System in Glencoe.

2012

Began offering service in Sleepy Eye and Goodhue areas.

2017

Purchased RRCNet providing internet to Lamberton area.

 

2018

Became Nuvera. Acquired Scott-Rice to serve Prior Lake.

2021

NuFiber Gig City project begins.
